Cool Jobs: Big Game Sports Edition

With the Big Game dominating news coverage around the clock, media frenzy will continue to surround the highly anticipated TV ads, the pending retirement of Baltimore Ravens Ray Lewis, and of course, the first championship game in NFL history pitting brother against brother.  The only people receiving more media attention than the players in New Orleans are Jackie and Jack Harbaugh, parents of Baltimore Ravens Coach John Harbaugh and his brother, San Francisco Giants Coach Jim Harbaugh. But the real un-sung heroes of the Big Game are the men and women on the sidelines, who work year-round to keep these NFL players in top shape.  So while the topic of athletic training may not be top of mind with Big Game fans, it is front and center with players, coaches and team ownership.  Football players and amateur athletes alike can thank their athletic trainers for helping to keep them healthy and conditioned to compete at every level.  Athletic training and sports medicine careers are some of the most popular sports-related occupations, expected to see a faster-than-average job growth rate of 30% thru 2020, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
